Streamline game development with Unity's AI tools: an agentic assistant in the Editor, plus a CLI, MCP server, and official plugins.

Our take

Last updated 14 October 2026

Unity's AI page says the Unity AI brand name is being retired and describes the tools separately: an in-editor assistant, a CLI, an MCP server, and an official plugin for outside agents. They require Unity 6 or later and are still in beta. Personal users can start a free trial of the assistant that converts to $10 a month; the CLI, MCP server, and plugin are described as free.

Best for Unity 6 developers who want an editor assistant or a bridge to an outside coding agent.

Pros

  • The in-editor assistant is project-aware and can inspect scenes and drive Editor actions.
  • An official plugin is documented for Claude Code, Codex, and Grok, covering skills such as UI, 2D, shaders, and multiplayer.
  • The CLI, MCP server, and plugin are described as free, separate from the credit-based assistant.

Cons

  • You need Unity 6 or later, and the tools are beta and not installed by default.
  • The assistant trial for Personal users converts to $10 a month.
  • This helps you build in Unity; it is not a shipped NPC conversation runtime. Sentis is the separate runtime inference engine.
